Donald Trump’s racial discrimination problem
In the 1970s, he was sued by the feds for not renting to African-Americans
By Justin Elliott

In an episode early in Donald Trump’s career, his New York real estate company was sued by the federal government for discriminating against potential black renters. After a lengthy legal battle, it ultimately agreed to wide-ranging steps to offer rentals to nonwhites.

The little-remembered case provides crucial context for the current discussion centering on Trump and race. The celebrity businessman made news last month when he declared, “I have a great relationship with the blacks. I’ve always had a great relationship with the blacks.”

He has recently come under fire for attacks on President Obama that critics have described as racially tinged. CBS anchor Bob Schieffer, for example, said Wednesday there is “an ugly strain of racism” in Trump’s recent (baseless) accusations that President Obama should not have been admitted to Columbia. Also yesterday, Trump told a black reporter, unprompted, “Look I know you are a big Obama fan.”

<..> But it didn’t end there. In 1978, the government filed a motion for supplemental relief, charging that the Trump company had not complied with the 1975 agreement. The government alleged that the Trump company “discriminated against blacks in the terms and conditions of rental, made statements indicating discrimination based on race and told blacks that apartments were not available for inspection and rental when, in fact, they are,” the Times reported. Trump again denied the charges.

Trump. who will host a fund raiser for Romney, has issues with black people. He is pushing birtherism....does Willard want that to rub off on him? Maybe so since Arpaio is also Willard's buddy.

Romney is a gutless wonder! Tells me he co-signs this racism and feels the same way. You won't see him give a speech disavowing these bigots because he is a bigot himself!

I was born a Truman, but you can call me Pat. Wave

"They want to give people like me a two hundred thousand dollar tax cut that’s paid for by asking thirty three seniors to each pay six thousand dollars more in health costs? That’s not right, and it’s not going to happen as long as I’m President." Barack Obama

And don't forget, the Mormon Church has its own history of racism. From Wikipedia:

From 1849 to 1978, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) had a policy against ordaining black men of African descent to the priesthood. Whereas other churches usually have full-time salaried clergy of whom individual members are often the chief minister to several families, in the LDS Church virtually all male head-of-household church members are part of the priesthood. Under the pre-1978 policy, black men of African descent could not hold the priesthood in this way, and were also prohibited from participating in the temple Endowment and sealings, ordinances that the church teaches are necessary for the highest degree of salvation. However, the LDS Church has always had an open membership policy for all races, but few black people who were aware of the racial policy joined the church.[1] In 1978, church leaders ceased the racial restriction policy for black men, declaring that they had received a revelation instructing them to do so. Today's church opposes racial discrimination and racism.

A revelation, huh?

Silence is consent.

Yeah, a revelation. It didn't come from God, but but in the form of a notice from the IRS that they stand to lose their tax exempt status if hit with too many law suits based on racial discrimination in hiring.

It's a wonder how fast they moved after that one.

Romney is going to continue to hang around with racists, take the money and stay quiet, then wonder why only older white people will come to his rallies. That demographic is not in the majority. He'll then have the nerve to wonder why no one else will vote for him. Rolleyes
