IHOP Franchisee Arrested

So the headline caught my eye - a $3 million dollar con at the IHOP? Really??

So I had to read. The owner of the franchises broke every single law that he possibly could to rake in the dough. Cooked the books, and cooked them again, brought in illegals and actually helped them to get forged papers, created second identities to avoid reporting overtime (why bother?), had a separate food stamp and Medicaid scheme going. Good lord. But I have to wonder, if he hadn't had a foreign name, would they have bothered checking at all. Wonder what started the investigation.

Sometimes you have to wonder at the energy and inventiveness people apply to criminal efforts - just use the same energy for something legit!

He had 7 franchises in Ohio, more in other states and overseas. You would think he would be rich enough from that.
