OMG! Have you seen this?

Bennett's son, fellow counselor get jail time in camp hazing

Clifton Bennett, 18, and fellow counselor Kyle Wheeler, 19, admitted to abusing 18 boys ages 11 to 14 — who had been hand-picked for a weeklong leadership camp — by poking them in the rear end with broomsticks, a flashlight and a cane as a punishment or just because they were in a bad mood.

Hazing my ***! It was sexual assault!
~~~
More than a dozen victims' parents spoke, calling the hazing sexual assault and molestation despite findings by state experts that there was no sexual intent behind the "broomings."
Another article about this from Sun.:
Son of Senate president offered plea deal in assault case
Posted: Sunday, April 2, 2006 10:00 pm
<..> The letter said Bennett was an honor student and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who plans to go on a mission in September.
"A felony conviction for assault will make his desire to complete his mission impossible," they wrote.
http://azdailysun.com/news/local/son-of-...3eb50.html
In addition to the jail time, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Thomas O'Toole ordered both Bennett and Wheeler to perform 200 hours of community service and spend three years on supervised probation. If they complete all the terms of probation, their crime will be considered a misdemeanor rather than a felony.
So with his 30 days jail and 3 yrs of supervised probation it looks like Bennett will miss that mission because he'll be charged with a felony. Hardly seems enough for terrorizing those kids.
I wonder if he'll run for office some day and laugh when he's reminded of this brutality?
If I were a member of the Mormon church, I don't think I would want this guy wandering the hillsides talking about religion.
They're supposed to have strict moral requirements for those they allow to go on a mission. It would be astonishing if they let him be a missionary after doing what he did, regardless of whether he's convicted. It would be pretty sick for the mormon church to decide that someone who anally raped an underage boy is morally and spiritually "worthy" to represent them as a missionary. ugh Vomit
You have to be joking. Mormon Mission homes are KNOWN as petrie dishes for male homosexuals. I know more gay return missionaries, than straight ones.
Gives credence to my question to missionaries that show up at my door, "Is this whole "boys only" on missions a "Gay thing"?
When will people begin to understand that while a sex act is involved rape and sexual assault are not about the sex part.
While the motivations that drive each perp are varied and complex what they always boil down to is a need to dominate and degrade the victim.
These acts are an assault using the threat of a sexual penetration as a weapon being used to humiliate and dominate the victim.
