Burt Bacharach and Hal David received the Gershwin award. It was a really nice performance with Diana Krall, Sheryl Crow, Lyle Lovett, Stevie Wonder and several other performers.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always loved their music. I was in choir from 6th grade on and we always did several of their numbers every year.

I watched and I enjoyed every moment. Mellow jazz and sweet lyrics from back when I was also mellow and sweet, a thousand years ago--or so--give or take a few.Love Ya

It was all beautiful, but Stevie Wonder literally blew me away. I'm going to listen again.

Wonder did an absolutely amazing job with that song!

I watched! It was spectacular!
I love all the Bacharach/David tunes... grew up listening to Dionne Warwick and wanted so badly to be her! Love Stevie... love, love, love Diana Krall!

Most people don't expect this from a dyed in the wool headbanger, but there you have it!

Bacharach/David were a big part of my childhood. My mom bought a song book of their tunes, for piano, and it was so common in my house to hear that old Chickering upright piano plucking out the strains of "Close To You".

We had an old Wheelock upright grand... I used to put a sheet of newspaper between the hammers and the strings to get that honky tonk sound... Smile I wish I had that old piano now!
