WaPo fact checked Romney's claim that half a million jobs in one month is just barely average. After looking at the past 65 years of monthly job creation, they found out that--

"In other words, only nine times out of the last 784 months — a rate of slightly more than 1 percent — has the U.S. economy created more than 500,000 jobs in a month."
