Romney endangers life of Chen in China for political gain
I know that is harsh..but why would a canidate? for election be setting up the secretary of state and all of our people in China right now if not for politics.

Even the greenest of green politicians know enough not to comment in the middle of possible negotiations.

Romney may have just put the Chinese in a corner.. just to make political hay..

I am dumbfounded.. I cannot believe he is actually doing this

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-...?track=rss

"Mitt Romney issued a sharply worded critique Thursday of the Obama administration’s handling of the case of Chinese dissident Chen Guangcheng, stating during a campaign event that he was troubled by news reports that Chen felt pressure to leavetheU.S. Embassy at a time when he feared for the safety of himself and his family."

Thoughtful responses are the first victims of partisan passions.

These are the kinds of missteps that will do him in. He just keeps wading into them.

His campaign is being run almost as badly as John Kerry's was.

I wanted to make this point in its own thread but I can't remember the idiots name that I just saw on Ratigan, Peter something.

I just turned on the TV in time to hear this idiot railing against Obama and Clinton throwing the blind dissident to the Chinese wolves so it wouldn't hurt a meaningless summit meeting.

The lowest blow was yet to come however. He went on to suggest that Hillary, her husband and their daughter should be placed under house arrest and made to suffer the same fate as Chen and his family suffers.

This idiot has no idea what went on behind closed doors at the Embassy nor what plans and agreements the White House has for securing Chen's safety and/or release to US custody but he has the balls to stick his nose in and possibly antagonize the situation further.

RAT-again could be heard in the background, "yep, yep, yep".

Shame on them both!

And what exactly could the US Embassy do to procure their safety? I'd guess nothing. They certainly couldn't send in the Marines to take the family by force. The only tool at their disposal was diplomacy and it is doubtful the Chinese were willing to give up the family.

Now that the eyes of the world are on the family and Chen and their whereabouts are known the Chinese are in a weaker position, even though it seems they are not. They cannot "disappear" them and now I foresee it as likely that they will simply let him leave with his family to be rid of the problem.

I think Willard has no reason to comment on the Chinese and human rights while he is busy trying to take away the rights of women in this country. Along with children, the disabled and the elderly, Willard is hellbent to make their lives miserable by removing the safety nets. The man doesn't know human rights and needs to STFU.

To butt into delicate diplomatic negotiations tells me the GOP has a hand in screwing it up. There is nothing they won't do to try to destroy the Obama administration....nothing.

I heard what he said, and when he started talking about freedom, I literally let out a yelp! WTF? You're right, jaxx. He doesn't understand a thing about human rights as he has so adequately demonstrated by the anti-women and anti-immigrant stances he has taken this go-round.
