Tentative Support of Oregon's Medicaid Initiative
One of the reasons I get irked when people try to say Romney is the architect of "Obamacare", is because he sooooo Is Not. I don't even remember when the original OHP was implemented, but Premium Assistance was implemented back in 1997, which is part of the MA program and the core of "Obamacare". Now Kitzhaber is overhauling Medicaid to attempt to provide full service to recipients. The way it will work is that the team will prioritize an individual's medical needs and cover EVERYTHING, share all testing results, and coordinate care and progress. They will also have a caseworker do routine follow-up on medication and that kind of thing. So, for instance, when I just got my last blood work-up, a caseworker will make sure I got the info instead of having to go back to the doctor. (I got it online, numbers are great, and decided to cancel the unnecessary THIRD appt. since last Sept) I have high hopes for this, but if a Republian governor signs a similar program in 5 years - please don't call it a Republican idea.
