Stupid Republican Tricks, NH Edition
The Republicans leadership of the NH House is trying to remove a Democratic representative for...well, being a Democrat.

Rep. Mike Brunelle (D-Manchester) is the executive director of the New Hampshire Democratic Party. The NH House is an unpaid, part-time gig, so many members have outside jobs.

The GOP argument is that Brunelle is violating a provision of the state constitution which prohibits House members from acting as a paid advocate on issues that are before the legislature. The GOP team has decided that since Brunelle is sponsoring a bill to raise the minimum wage, he is advancing an agenda that benefits the Democratic Party.

Yes, I am serious. Facepalm

But wait, there's more...

Brunelle lives in the same district as notorious right-wing gadfly Joe Kelly Levasseur, who recently lost a close race for the state senate.

In the past, Levasseur has hounded a 23 year old woman off of the school board by following her around town at 2 in the morning, and by trumping up assault charges against a Democratic alderman (later dismissed) who held a seat that his best friend coveted.

This is from the party that said they would focus like a laser beam on the economy and state budget.

In what way is advocating for raising the minimum wage benefitting Democrats only?

The assumption must be made that no Republican voters work for minimum wage.

Leap of logic.

I've spent time in Manchester, and I know of Mr. Joe Kelly. Does he still serve sandwiches personally at his shop and shout at the customers?

Principles alone do not put food on the table.

He sold the sub and pizza shop but still owns the building (he lives in one of the residential units). He bought Theo's, a Greek sit-down place on the southern end of Elm Street, where he continues to scream at customers. The place had a fire last week, so he had to close for the New Year's weekend, which was clearly an example of karma in action.

He practices law as well; he made headlines last year when he failed to show up for oral argument at a state supreme court hearing on Manchester's proposed spending cap.
