"Reverse racism"
What would you make of an alleged liberal who believed in reverse racism or reverse discrimination and couldn't understand that this is a "conservative" meme?

I have never understood what that meant.. how can you complain about reverse racism unless you are complaining that as a racist, you do not like having that pie served back to you..

I have never what that was supposed to mean

likewise reverse discrimination.. sounds the same way.. someone who discriminates and gets it back calls foul..

Thoughtful responses are the first victims of partisan passions.

There is discrimination everywhere
But there's no such thing as "reverse racism". Racism is racism no matter what color skin the spewer has.

What June said. The term "reverse racism" always seemed exceedingly stupid to me, and moreover implied that it was a malfunction of the "correct racism" practiced by the Whites who were entitled to use it.

Reminds me of the phrase "white trash"... as opposed to the regular black kind.

I bet there's many of those 'implied malfunctions' around that slip past us.

RE: "Reverse racism"
If I were confronted with the term I would say that "reverse racism" was being nice to people.

But I'm talking here about the way "conservatives" use it as a dog whistle. I'm talking about the I'm rubber and you're glue tactic that Rachel was talking about.

I've never understood reverse racism either. Civil rights seems to have escaped their senses.

RE: "Reverse racism"
Reverse racism is equality. The typical reason someone doesn't understand that they aren't entitled to everything first, is that they don't understand that they think that way to begin with.

When they get mad that there is a line of women and minorities who get into school or get a job, and they don't - they need to be told the only reason that separate line is there is because they previously beat the fuck out of anybody who tried to get in the line. I'm sure you have examples.

I was just doing my husband's genealogy and discovered the probable reason they changed the spelling of their last name. It was Gum until 1890 or so, then became Gumm for no apparent reason. That was the time period when they lived in a county that literally ran out all the Chinese. Gum is also a Chinese last name. Hmmmm. Don't know for sure, no evidence, but sounds plausible. Must be thousands of cases like that you could pile on someone.

Well, no. He's liberal but he's getting on a black poster pretty heavily and accusing him of being a racist just like the "conservatives" are doing.

I asked him to explain why he's not doing the "conservative" "reverse racist" meme. I don't think he gave me a very good answer and he might even be embarrassed.

The black poster is a proud black man, and the "conservatives" are absolutely brutal. He's been called every name in the book. It's pretty damned disgusting. I'm standing up for him, of course. Not that he needs me, exactly. I have discussed this with him and he's definitely baiting them.

Most informed liberals understand the dog-whistle meaning of "reverse racism". I'll take your word for it in that the poster in question is an "alleged liberal", though actions do speak louder than words.

I agree with you which is why I am scratching my head. Odd. Isn't it?
