Feeding a hungry child is not charity-- it is an investment
So says Shridhar Venkat, an Indian engineer and businessman who runs a foundation that feeds a million hungry schoolkids for 11 cents a day each.

"To him, a child like Suchitra is not a hungry 13-year-old girl in poverty. She's an opportunity, and giving her lunch is an investment. Tomorrow, an educated Suchitra could produce a huge return on that investment to her community, he said."

More people should think that way. There are a lot of opportunities who go to school hungry, we need to take care of our kids too.

Reminds me of the biggest irk I have with the SCOTUS health care arguments. People will have to pay more for the uninsured. What about making an argument for a healthy population? It's sad that people are more concerned with paying extra on their premium than paying by being sick and having sick children. It's sad that health doesn't count for anything in this country. What happened to our Venkats.
