GOP Superstar Chris Christie discovered to be Koch Brother Stooge
Quote:A Star-Ledger analysis of hundreds of documents shows that ALEC bills are surfacing in New Jersey, where Republican Gov. Chris Christie is trying to remake the state, frequently against the wishes of a Democrat-controlled Legislature.'
Drawing on bills crafted by the council, on New Jersey legislation and dozens of e-mails by Christie staffers and others, The Star-Ledger found a pattern of similarities between ALEC’s proposals and several measures championed by the Christie administration. At least three bills, one executive order and one agency rule accomplish the same goals set out by ALEC using the same specific policies. In eight passages contained in those documents, New Jersey initiatives and ALEC proposals line up almost word for word. Two other Republican bills not pushed by the governor’s office are nearly identical to ALEC models.
ALEC gained wide attention last week when one of its bills — a "stand your ground" law that allows anyone who feels threatened to defend themselves with deadly force — became part of a national controversy over the shooting death of a 17-year-old Florida boy. New Jersey has no such law.

Quote:ALEC Exposed: The Koch Connection

Hundreds of ALEC’s model bills and resolutions bear traces of Koch DNA: raw ideas that were once at the fringes but that have been carved into “mainstream” policy through the wealth and will of Charles and David Koch. Of all the Kochs’ investments in right-wing organizations, ALEC provides some of the best returns: it gives the Kochs a way to make their brand of free-market fundamentalism legally binding.
No one knows how much the Kochs have given ALEC in total, but the amount likely exceeds $1 million—not including a half-million loaned to ALEC when the group was floundering. ALEC gave the Kochs its Adam Smith Free Enterprise Award, and Koch Industries has been one of the select members of ALEC’s corporate board for almost twenty years. The company’s top lobbyist was once ALEC’s chairman. As a result, the Kochs have shaped legislation touching every state in the country. Like ideological venture capitalists, the Kochs have used ALEC as a way to invest in radical ideas and fertilize them with tons of cash.

At some point in time..the truth will come out about the 2010 election and the creation of the tea party.. the truth is out I realize..but the depth to which certain parties have tried to overthrow and elected goverment.

I bet you a dollar to a doughnut.. someone somewhere has the goods on these guys and how deep it goes to even the SCOTUS

Thoughtful responses are the first victims of partisan passions.

RE: GOP Superstar Chris Christie discovered to be Koch Brother Stooge
It seems to me what we are seeing from the rightwing is a long, well developed plot that was brought to a head with the election of President Obama. All the seething anger pulled together with the purpose of 'taking their country back' and no stone is being left unturned. From the voter suppression, to the women's suppression, to the abortion laws being taken down in state after state, to the racism, to the gun laws....and on and on. It is all happening at once.

Money and power have come together and they are using every avenue to turn this country on it's head. Unless we can get control of the Congress and the WH....and the Supreme Court, we are powerless to stop them. Not a pleasant thought, is it?

So when do they get considered a threat to the
country? I would dare say, "Terroristic"...
