Top Romney adviser: Mitt will erase his conservative positions once he’s the nominee
By Greg Sargent

Think Progress flags an amazing exchange on CNN, in which Eric Fehrnstrom, a top adviser to Mitt Romney, seems to confirm that the conservative positions Romney has been forced to take during the primary won’t be a big deal because he can simply erase them once he becomes the GOP nominee:

Mitt Romney Adviser: Romney Is Like 'Etch A Sketch'

<..> One other point: Note how casually these remarks were greeted by the panel of commentators, as if his kind of thing is just business as usual. As I and others, such as Steve Benen, have been pointing out, it seems likely that many commentators will forget all about Romney’s flirtation with far right positions and grant him the presumption of moderation the second he becomes the nominee. It will be widely accepted that Romney didn’t really mean any of the things he said to get through the primary; all that silly stuff was just part of the game. The above foreshadows this perfectly.

Interesting.....we will be seeing teflon Willard by some of the MSM. Keep the facts handy, we're going to need them.

Jeb just endorsed Willard.

Brad Woodhouse ‏ @woodhouseb
Does Jeb Bush think @MittRomney erasing his positions like shaking an Etch-A-Sketch is appropriate?

Woodhouse is an Obama guy at the WH.

He can certainly change his positions once he gets the nomination
but the rabid right base can just as easily stay home, keep their wallets closed and refuse to help

This is called flip-flopping, never good for any candidate. To add to his other faults, Mittens has bad campaign advisors. Note how cynically they take the public's ADD for granted. And Faux's support.

Is féidir linn.

You can quite often tell a lot about a candidate by the kind of people he or she surrounds himself or herself with.

And Mitt's advisers are telling us a heck of a lot about this candidate. In all fairness, they're not telling us much that we didn't already know -he's opportunistic, a flip-flop and expedient to a fault -but it only goes to confirm it

And if his Republican opponents have any sense, theý're already compiling footage of this to run in the states where the subsequent primaries are held
