Quote:First, CHICKENHAWKS SPEAK:
Rick Santorum said “it shows weakness,” Mitt Romney said it’s “very difficult for the American people to countenance,” and Newt Gingrich called it “surrender.”

Quote:BC’s Martha Raddatz asked Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, about the GOP criticism:

RADDATZ: Gen. John Allen is a passionate officer, who bristles at the criticism aimed at him and President Obama for apologizing for the burning of the Qurans.

ALLEN: Why wouldn’t we? Why wouldn’t we? This is the central word of God for them. Why wouldn’t we? We didn’t do it on purpose. But we should apologize. And now we get on with the relationship.

The three stooges would do well to think on that.

General Allen is absolutely right about this (and so was Obama for apologizing). The nitwits on the right think it shows weakness -- yet if a bible were burned by an Afghani, they would be screaming at the top of their lungs about it.

Sorry fellas, but just because you believe in a different book than other people do doesn't mean it's okay to burn the book that is different.

Silence is consent.

He is so right. Anyone who makes a mistake, and this was a huge one, should apologize....and mean it.

The 3 stooges need to shut up and think before they spew.

Agree with you both - another point I'd heard made that I also agree with is that these absolutely pathetic candidates are still thinking only of themselves, their campaigns, their own. They could give less than a toss about the effect their words might have in a theater of war in which the U.S. is still actively engaged. And they want us to take them seriously - they've got to be kidding!

Exactly right, jane. They say that stuff because it's red meat to their base, but the never EVER think of the consequences of those words in the rest of the world.
