Offensive Is Nothing New: Rush Limbaugh's 5 Worst Remarks
http://www.alternet.org/story/154420/off...t_remarks/
From the article: Quote:Has Rush Limbaugh finally gone too far? The list follows farther in the article, but the fact that Rush is still on the air is the major point. As a white male in general, and a white male mainstay of the rabid RW, he has gotten away with statements that have gotten those that are not members of that prized demographic fired, fined, and worse. Arsenio Hall's dig at then-President Bush, Sr. helped hasten his show's already downhill ratings and eventual cancellation. Isaiah Washington's use of a gay slur on the set of "Grey's Anatomy" got him fired and a rapid departure from the show. The examples are legion. If fairness is to be the norm, then everyone should be, and must be, held to the same standard. Rush should have been off the air years ago, because it's the right thing to do, not just because he has accumulated enough bad credits over the years and everyone has had enough. We can't call it equality when some are more equal than others. |
