Women face enough hostility when they serve in the armed forces, having Rush stoke the fires of hatred among our troops is a bad thing

I signed. Troops shouldn't have to listen to the lies of Limbaugh.

Female Veterans Demand Rush Limbaugh’s Show Be Pulled From American Forces Network

By Faiz Shakir on Mar 5, 2012 at 12:30 pm

<..> Miranda Norman (who is a VoteVets.org Senior Advisor), Kayla Williams, and Robin Eckstein, all Iraq War Veterans, and Katherine Scheirman, former chief of medical operations in the U.S. Air Forces, released the following statement:

Quote: Rush Limbaugh has a freedom of speech and can say what he wants, but in light of his horribly misogynistic comments, American Forces Radio should no longer give him a platform. Our entire military depends on troops respecting each other – women and men. There simply can be no place on military airwaves for sentiments that would undermine that respect. When many of our female troops use birth control, for Limbaugh to say they are “sluts” and “prostitutes” is beyond the pale. It isn’t just disrespectful to our women serving our country, but it’s language that goes against everything that makes our military work. Again, we swore to uphold our Constitution, including the freedom of speech, and would not take that away from anyone – even Limbaugh. But that does not mean AFN should broadcast him. In fact, it shouldn’t.

Rush Limbaugh Controversy: American Forces Network Will Still Air Show, Pentagon Says

By LOLITA C. BALDOR 03/ 5/12 01:23 PM ET

WASHINGTON — A Pentagon spokesman says the military's network will continue to air Rush Limbaugh's radio program.

George Little says the American Forces Network offers a wide range of programming to reflect listeners' interests and he is unaware of any plans to review that decision.

Done. I never could understand his dogged appeal to USAFR. Most active military people I know cannot stand his ass.

EDIT: When you go to the petition, feel free to use it as a guideline and insert your own thoughts and words there. I think a form letter "yea'd" by a zillion people, by itself, won't be as convincing as a diverse swath of sentiment.

Done
Done. Have never understood how Limbaugh's show could be tolerated being spoon fed to the troops.
