Republicans seek boost from Washington state caucuses
By Michael O'Brien and John Bailey
The four remaining Republican presidential candidates waged a tougher-than-expected battle for Saturday's GOP presidential caucuses in Washington.
Each candidate has spent time and money in recent weeks in hopes of picking up a victory -- and political momentum -- in Washington, whose caucuses serve as a precursor to Super Tuesday, next week's slate of 10 caucuses and primaries across the country.
Those contests are expected to rehash a fight this past week between Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in Michigan, where Republicans handed the native Romney a narrow victory over Santorum. Reflecting the growing importance of single states' nominating contests this cycle, all four candidates have visited the state in recent weeks.
<..> Observers should be on the lookout for two sets of results out of Washington on Saturday night. First is the results from a straw poll of caucus attendees, slated for release at 8 p.m. ET. The straw poll is conducted at sign-in, and then caucusgoers are encouraged to remain at precincts to elect delegates to the state convention in June. That convention will actually determine the allotment of Washington's 43 delegates.

This is a big week for the pubs. I'd like to see it a free for all and they all look like dirt.
