Democrats for Progress Blog, the week in review
If you haven't checked out the DFP blog this week, here's what you missed:
TSW #28 finds that the editors of National Review Online have a heart-on for Rick Santorum. In fairness to them, the alternatives are Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul. As Simon & Garfunkel sang: "Any way you look at it you lose." Slouching Towards Tampa also focuses on Rick Santorum, but unlike the gang at National Review Online, finds him to be a "fanatical demagogue who puts Savanarola to shame." Walter Rhett returns after a brief hiatus, and his new Digging Deeper points out that - in one respect, at least - the Confederate States of America was more progressive than the current batch of GOP candidates. Take Five hails great strides forward for marriage equality in Washington and California, a vacation gone wrong for Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, the curious case of Mitt Romney and the revival of the auto industry, a protest mostly lacking in bark and bite, and the 312,780,968th funniest person in America, Brad Stine. Stine has competition, though. In this week's Friday Talking Points, Chris Weigant offers up the comedy-impaired Dana Milbank for richly deserved ridicule. This week's Most Impressive Democrat is Washington's Governor Christine Gregoire, who recently signed marriage equality into law. Among this week's talking points: Maine Republicans can't count to 6,000, Boehner hates the President's economic policies so much that he supports them, and Rick Santorum's campaign sugar daddy can't distinguish between aspirin and the Pill. And RL Gardner's Sunday Talks runs down another Sunday lineup of mostly male, mostly white, mostly conservative talk show guests. Support your local blog!
