Super Bowl Viewers Will See Graphic Anti-Abortion Ads With Pictures Of Bloody Fetuses

By Marie Diamond on Jan 10, 2012 at 5:10 pm

Super Bowl viewers in 40 cities across the country will see graphic ads featuring images of bloody, aborted fetuses. The ads are being paid for by fringe anti-abortion candidate Randall Terry:

Anti-abortion ads showing graphic images of aborted fetuses covered in blood and surrounded by religious icons will air during the Super Bowl in February, courtesy of Democratic Presidential candidate Randall Terry.

<..> The Colorado paper the Greeley Gazette notes that Terry has already run political ads with images of aborted fetuses in New Hampshire. The ads attacked President Obama for supporting “child killing.”

I wonder how the parents watching with little kids will explain these? Really, the man is demented.

That's what I was thinking!

I wish someone would become a pretend candidate like Terry Randall and run ads showing the mutilated bodies of women forced to have back alley abortions when abortion was illegal.

I wish everyone who watches the Super Bowl would turn the channel whenever commercials come on. Not only would they then not see this crap, they wouldn't see any of the commercials. If it hurts the ratings for the SB or ratings for the commercials, maybe the folks who control all this will think twice before doing this again.

Here is my prediction
Football Fans on the left will be obviously pissed

but watch the Football fans on the right....Terry is messing with a type of holy environment and the blowback is going to be bad.....

The NFL will suffer from this.....I have no doubt

NBC Network won't air the ads--it will have to be a local buy in each of these markets. I'll have to see if I can find the market list.

RE: Super Bowl Viewers Will See Graphic Anti-Abortion Ads
I hope people do write and call about this, but it's a law.

<..> Terry, who has spent a year in jail and been arrested 50 times for his anti-abortion efforts, is using a Federal Election Commission loophole that ensures ads for political candidates cannot be prohibited within 45 days of an election. Apparently, primaries count, so Terry will be running ads on local stations during Super Bowl XLVI February 5.

Can you see the boards light up when the first of these ads hit the air during the Super Bowl? People will rightly be furious.

RE: Super Bowl Viewers Will See Graphic Anti-Abortion Ads
As noted above, Janet Jackson's wardrobe incident caused plenty of flak, would a station or network risk it? Not to mention that Randall Terry will have to raise the millions to afford to run an ad, much less more than one ad, during the Super Bowl, so that's two major obstacles he has to deal with.

Money will buy anything, it seems, and the definition of what constitutes unacceptable obscenity needs some re-examination in America, it would appear.

Luckily, I will not see the Super Bowl, as I head back overseas on Sunday. I don't even know what teams are playing.
