I'll be keeping my eye on this,
but I'll be watching the Sugar Bowl.

Wonder which one will be more raucus - the football game or the Iowa caucuses!

Silence is consent.

If the current results hold, which they won't, I'll be happy: Santorum, Paul, Romney.

A third place finish would be devastating for Romney.

Disappointed that there is absolutely no news about the Democratic Caucus. I get it's a formality - but turnout numbers, how many voted for Obama and for uncommitted, would be nice to know.

Well, so much for slowly chipping away.

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

He very well may be right. It's weird that the DMR shows Santorum ahead, but they also show less reported too. This could be one of those "Dewey Wins" nights. Wink

Thousands of Iowans made it out to the caucuses to see President Obama address the importance of the 2012 election how they could be the difference. Here are the highlights. If you're fired up after tonight, sign up to volunteer at barackobama.com/volunteer.

An elderly Republican I know said she is sitting it out this year. They're all too nuts for her and she's a veteran, pro-life Baptist. If she's disgusted with this bunch, the true moderates might not be showing up at all. I'm surprised Santorum is leading Romney at any point at all, but not that he's doing as well as he is. There was nowhere else for the religious voter to go.

When I hear this religious hogwash-speak and look at the zombies around him, all I can think is "mental illness".

Yep. It'll end up the evangelicals vs the plain nuts pubs. Santorum and Bachmann and Perry used that religion to the hilt.

I don't know a single person like these right-wing Christians - they scare the crap out of normal thinking people here in the Northeast - including enough Republicans to easily give Obama several purple states including my NH.

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

We see some of that in west central IL, more to the southern part. Totally anti anything to do with reproduction...except making babies. I hope Santorum puts a lot of people off with his ravings.

Caucus night in Iowa

By Steve Benen

<..> Midnight: In the immortal words of the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, “All right, we’ll call it a draw.” Whichever one of these two manage to come out on top, the results are effectively the same: Romney spent well over $4 million in Iowa, only to discover (a) three-quarters of Republicans still don’t like him; and (b) he tied a guy who spent about one-eighth the amount of money and was polling in single digits as recently as a few weeks ago.

Tonight’s big winner is obvious: his name is Barack Obama.

And with that, I’m calling it a night. I’ll have plenty more in the morning.

That's it for me too. Thanks everyone for making the DFP Iowa caucuses fun. You're a great group. Grouphug
