I don't think he forgot that one. I don't think that Americans need to be told to demand things. In fact today's Americans live by the phrase "ask not what you can do for your Country ask what your Country can do for you".

I didn't say that Americans should be demanding things. I said they should offer up better ideas as a follow up to criticizing.

Fair enough... Milt has always advocated selling the American public on progressive ideas to win popular support for them. He is not a big fan of just demanding progressive policy changes without doing the work of winning over the public

Here's 3 things they shouldn't do IMHO:

1. Spend most of their time bashing the President and political party that is already willing to give them most of what they claim to want- in terms of policies and general ideology.

2. Argue- especially in front of young people- that voting is a waste of time because it "doesn't matter" and "both parties are basically the same" (while sitting around waiting for some kind of spontaneous massive public uprising that won't ever come- or at least won't until we're WAY worse off than we are now and why should we have to let things get THAT bad anyway?).

3. Stay home every election day- and then bitch about more teabaggers and assorted Republican nuts being elected to all levels of government.

I think some people, mostly the PL, aren't *happy* unless they have something to fight and if there isn't a Republican in office they don't know what else to do with themselves other than nitpicking the people in charge, which happen to be Dems of course.
