It's hard to believe that there are people out there whom actually would vote for a Republican like Romney simply because they think that President Obama can't make things happen by force of will even though they agree with his policies. This is why the Republicans are busy obstructing anything and everything the President opposes, as well as accusing the President of a "failure of leadership".

President Obama and the Dems need to be prepared to make sure voters know who's doing their jobs in Washington DC and who isn't if we hope to win next year.

This is more Rove-ian jiu-jitsu. Remember that guy wrote the book on dirty campaigning, and making an opponents strengths look like weaknesses. Just more of the aggravating way the righties somehow "win" as hey fuck up or do nothing, and we "lose" by not making wins happen fast enough.

The day we lost control of that narratives was really the day our nightmares began.

Any ideas how we can regain the narrative? Yeah, I totally agree with you about how they somehow win even if they fuck up or do nothing. It's crazy and it's irrational but it seems to work for them. Banghead

I think there are large numbers of people who just want to be on the popular side and will come up with any excuse to be there. I think we have to stop thinking that people vote on facts. They vote on perceptions. Most people don't know the stock market is doing as well as it is, the perception is everything is wrong with the economy. Most people don't know their taxes went down. Everybody knows the list. This guy thinks Obama hasn't accomplished anything when there has already been more money for jobs than any Republican President would have approved.

I don't know why, in a party full of artists, we can't win the perception war.

You'd think that they know by now that the corporate-owned media is not their friend too. Of course, it doesn't help that our side is perpetually drowned out by all of the distortion, lies, propaganda. OTOH we all seem to have a basic understanding of the problems that we're facing but nobody seems to be doing anything about it, at least as far as we know.

Where is our leadership? I thought that DWS was going to be a major a**-kicker at first but I feel like I don't hear much from her anymore. I don't have cable, though, so I don't how much she is (or isn't) on the air. Is she on much? What is she doing? Shrug I thought that once Bush was out of office that things would be getting back on track but it seems like we're getting swamped with another wave of Republican idiocy and retrenchment.

I don't seriously believe that President Obama will be defeated next year but if we don't have a majority in the House and some way to defeat the Republican perpetual filibuster machine, what kind of enduring change do we hope to accomplish? Bill Clinton had approximately 2 years to get his agenda through before he got locked down by a Republican majority for the remaining 6 years of his Presidency. I'd hate to see that happen to President Obama but it's like history is inexplicably repeating itself. Banghead I feel like screaming!
