Oakland Mayor Jean Quan’s Legal Advisor Resigns In Support Of Occupy Oakland
By Zaid Jilani on Nov 14, 2011 at 11:55 am

In a raid this morning, the city of Oakland used riot gear-clad police to evict the Occupy Oakland tent city. “It feels pretty sad because we built a community here, and now they can just come and destroy it,” said Lisa Bitar, one of the protesters.

Outraged by the action taken against Occupy Oakland, Dan Siegel, who had been serving as mayor Jean Quan’s legal advisor, decided to resign today. On Twitter, he wrote that he was resigning to support Occupy Oakland and oppose the 1 percent:

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

Rachel just interviewed him on her show. One of the things he said, that I really liked, is that people need to sit down with the 99% and talk to them, not go on stereotypes, and treat them as people.

Good guy.

Yes, I saw that as well. Clearly he has too much common sense to be consulting the neanderthal's in Oakland. Did you hear how Quan was bullied by conservative a-holes on the city council into taking this latest action? Rolleyes

Yes, I heard that. The "honorable" mayor needs to put some more thought into what she's doing, and how the actions of the Oakland Police are really ugly-ing up Oakland (which doesn't have the most pristine reputation anyway -- whether that is deserved or not, it just doesn't).

Silence is consent.

Thank you, Dan Siegel, for making the right move. We are all People doing the best we can at a difficult time. Talking is always more productive than abuse. Listening is even better. Fistbump_1

Well done Mr. Siegel. He said when they cleared it the first time that he thought of leaving Quan, and now that they have done it again he kept his word. Pay attention mayors, you are wrong to stop the occupiers.
