"Occupy" Wall Street?
I love the sentiment of the movement, but I'm coming to question the branding and methods. It seems demanding a takeover of areas that's not legal creates a type of confrontation detracts from the issues being raised.

I'm not a branding expert by any means, but doesn't "occupy" make anyone else uneasy? Fight Wall Street? Main Street, not Wall Street? Something like that.

The image is a problem, IMO.

RE: "Occupy" Wall Street?
Is there a media effort underway to undercut the movement at this time? Yes!

Could they do a bit better in having a spokesperson who denounces violence and other bad tactics? Yes!

Also, read Chris Weigant's article posted here just last night - he addresses this directly. http://democratsforprogress.com/forum/sh...?tid=10685

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

At least this movement got the media off the topic of debt reduction, and talking now about jobs and income inequality. It's a start.

And they've influenced the hearts and minds of millions. There's a reason this movement has grown and become part of the vernacular in these past weeks. I heard that monstrous bitch Ann Cult-whore use the term "Occupy" to make an argument the other day. That is victory.

Absolutely. I don't see this movement going away any time soon, and I can see this changing the current younger generation the way the protests in the '60s changed ours. We can't go back to the way things were. People are having their eyes opened to the greed of the extremely wealthy. All people want is a fair chance to make a living and have a good life. And now they are out fighting for that chance, and I say good on 'em. This is democracy in action.

Occupy everywhere! This movement has wings and is just beginning to grow. The wise cities will allow the protesters to have their say and their encampments.....the others will be pictures in the news showing what the 1% is all about.
I already see them making change....the banks backing down on the fees due to the Bank Transfer Day by the people, which is today by the way. Also the reality that over 650k people have changed to credit unions and local banks. This isn't small stuff, the people are listening to the OWS.

RE: "Occupy" Wall Street?
"Occupy" is absolutely appropriate. The only thing about it I don't like seeing lately are all the navel-gazing idiots on Facebook who are doing up variants like "Occupy your mind" or "Occupy peace" etc which is just so much lame fluffery taking away from the seriousness of the movement.
