Iraq War Vet Wounded at Oakland Occupy Protest Communicating During Recovery

In Oakland, an Iraq War veteran and Occupy activist is continuing to recover from serious brain injuries he sustained while attending a protest last week. Scott Olsen has been communicating with friends and family at his bedside by writing notes, but reportedly cannot speak. Friends say the 24-year-old is expected to make a full recovery. Meanwhile, protesters in Oakland are reportedly planning to occupy the office of Oakland Mayor Jean Quan today. The demonstrators are seeking the return of medical supplies seized in a police raid last week.

Poor guy, he was badly hurt to still not be speaking. I wish him the best.

Thanks for the update, jaxx. Here's to a full recovery for Scott Olsen.

This reminds me of something I read about his parents not wanting Michael Moore to contact him at the hospital.. here it is..

"Hospital to Michael Moore: Don't try to visit Scott Olsen"

"The spokesperson also said documentary filmmaker Michael Moore tried to visit Olsen on Saturday. The hospital said the family has asked for Olsen's privacy and asked Moore not to try to visit Olsen and the hospital again.

"We have a very, very polite message to Mr. Moore: Mr. Olsen is not here," the hospital spokesperson said, "and if you do find out where he is, the Olsen family doesn't want you to come there either.""

You'd think he'd know enough to stay away at this time but evidently not.

Thanks for the info. MM should respect the wishes of the family. I wonder if his ins co sent him to a rehab facility. But the man did say another hospital I think. Anyway, I hope he gets better.
