Sowell claiming Cain is more "like us."
“My gosh, he is certainly one of us far more so than Barack Obama. Raised in Hawaii and going to a private school, an expensive private school," economist Thomas Sowell said on FOX Business

So my righties are on this theme. I wanted some input from AA DFPers before answering their racist asses.

Here is the link they post:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2...obama.html

Mostly it is really about how tough Sowell's life was.

"Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek." Barack Obama

Thomas Sowell is a long-time lawn jockey and one black friend to the rabid racist RW. He is only trotted out to when the RW is feeling the pressure or sees an opening--just like here. For an educated and degreed professor of economics to NOT talk about economic issues, esp. no comment on Cain's 9-9-9 proposal shows he's only present to give these racist assholes a free pass.

What is a "lawn jockey?"

Good point about the 999 plan - why not talk about that instead, or at least defend it?

Thanks for the post, Brewman!

In this context, I believe it refers to one of its original expressions as the "faithful groomsman," which is a derivative of the "faithful slave."

Or, a black person who "knows his place" and serves the "superior" race accordingly.

The short answer: much like RoyGBiv said. Also, it's a rather rude term based on this image...

...of any POC, black people in particular, that are interviewed or quoted to provide cover for racist RW/neo-con political stances.

Are you sure he's talking about race? I'm thinking of a scene from the 1932 movie Freaks.

If they think Cain is like them they are in for a rude awakening. Cain is all about Cain.

"like us" - yeah, if we were all hate-filled ignoramuses. Rolleyes

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

Sorry, Treestar, I can't take watching the vid but this guy sounds like a typical lying republicon asshole but I repeat myself.

President Obama went to a private school in Hawai'i because he had a scholarship.

Basically, you have to consider the source.
Sowell is a black conservative and a Republican. There are not very many of those.
And, PBO is unique, with a unique life experince. Sowell has not encountered very many people the likes of PBO. Sowell is speaking from ignorance and self protection.

Thanks all. This particular righty is a real racist, yet always denies it and posts this type of thing.

As jaxx says, all about themselves - Cain tells right wingers what they want to hear in order to gain something for Cain. Right wingers obligingly praise him for it in order to claim they aren't racists. But they have no real desire for Cain to get the nomination.

As a white male, I hope what I say here isn't taken the wrong way.

But any African-American or Latino who think Republicans give a fuck about them are completely and absoulutely clueless. They're used as tokens by Republicans and it saddens me to see after the struggles African-Americans have to endure to this day.

Herman Cain is in the lead now, but no way, no how will the Republican big-wigs allow him to be their nominee. Count on it.
