Benson, the artist, is generally pro-Obama.
I interpret this as saying that Obama deserves re-election because these tyrants where eliminated under his watch.

That was my first thought as well. I didn't recognize the artist I guess... and was confused because Arizona is such a mystery to me these days.

Steve Benson the cartoonist, is the grandson of Ezra Taft Benson...a mormon prophet. He threw off the mantle of mormonism becoming outspoken against all it's doctrines and theatrics and methods for teaching and converting hte collective. It's not too hard to understand his more left leaning stand today given his vehement stand against his own past, which was extremely conservative and Republican....Ezra Taft Benson you may remember was a Bircher and served as Sec of Agriculture under Eisenower.

I went to BYU and his sister was a roommate of mine decades ago. I frequented an ex-mormon bb where he was an active participant and spoke freely and often of his utter disregard and dislike for his past life.

Thanks for the info on Benson. I didn't know this about him. I think I'll understand his cartoons even more now.

Being raised a mormon kid myself, I well remember ol' Ezra. He was so right wing that even the other apostles asked him to dial it back a bit.

You gotta be pretty rabid for that to happen.
