Power corrupts
In there beginning, there is just you and me and everyone else. There is nothing stopping you from killing me, or me from killing you, except if we can defend ourselves. Why would you want to kill me? There are many reasons. You might like the way I figured out how to use bone tools instead of stone tools and instead of copying me you just kill me and take my tools. Or I might see you planning to kill me, or maybe I'm paranoid and I kill you before you can kill me. Or so on and so forth.

A lot of us don't like to see people around us getting killed and we see that by forming a group and making some rules we can reduce the senseless killing and just live better. We make a some rules for a government and maybe even some religious rules to have more control and more power.

And then some people figure out how to use these rules and religious beliefs to have even more power, and they get greedy with it. If enough of us figure it out we get together and we say "Enough" to the greedy and/or tyrannical.

And so it goes, over and over. It's a dialectic.

So how do "conservatives" come to try to tell us, the 99%, to tell the 1% that they have stepped over the line with their excessive wealth and their abuse of that wealth to buy off our government? Our authority comes from the fact that we're 99%, and the top 1% exists only by our largess. If we say it's not working, they're toast. 1% will never stave off 99% even if some of the 99% are completely stupid and beholden.

Our authority comes from the fact that we are the 99%. Why would we cede that authority to anyone, and where does "conservative" authority come from? Why do they think they can talk us out of asserting our authority through their name calling and rank stupidity?

RE: Power corrupts
I realize that I didn't say this very well but I am seriously puzzled by this notion that "conservatives" are trying to tell us that the Occupy Wall Street movement is somehow evil.

And there is this:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/10/1...1278.shtml

Please note that this article was put to my attention by a rather gleeful and psychotic "conservative" moran.

RE: Power corrupts
It's "evil" because it is seriously getting in the way of the 1% from raping the hell out of the rest of us. It's like a drug, once you have a habit of it you will go after it come hell or high water, whether you have to purchase it or break into your neighbors house and steal shit so you can purchase it.

They use the worn out philosophical arguments for their case as a cover.

Their arguments are more like zombie arguments that are dead but refuse to go away and insist upon feeding on the brains of their victims.

RE: Power corrupts
first, that article from CBS is, yes, just what "a rather gleeful and psychotic 'conservative' moran" would gloat over. Puke

thank you for your thought-provoking piece, Velleity. i think it really comes down to M$M being the 1%'s bootlicks.

we do have all the real power, but that is why we are kept in struggle.

That was the main point. WE, THE PEOPLE have all the real power. WE, THE PEOPLE are supposed to have all the real power. It's supposed to work that way and yet "conservatives" continue to tell us otherwise.

i should have added that i heard exactly that in your OP, Velleity.

they are as afraid of us, WE, THE PEOPLE, as were feudal barons of times past. they are outspokenly against Democracy.

thanks, again!
