Just like in the debt ceiling debacle the pubs run when the end is in sight. The last thing they want is to support any Obama/Democratic bill. They are fools.
VERY well said, jaxx!
thank you!

Harry Reid Changes Rules in Floor Fight With Mitch McConnell
"When the presiding officer at the time, Sen. Mark Begich (D-Alaska), ruled that the motions sought by McConnell were not dilatory, a term of art meaning that they are intended to delay, Reid moved that the ruling of the chair be sustained. That led to a simple-majority vote that he wanted to lose and did, 48-51. The move set the precedent that such motions will no longer be allowed."
I take it that this is the part that Reid shutdown Mcconnell's mean spirited attempts at blocking anything anytime that would make the Senate functional but I don't understand quite what happened?
“This was not just about this bill,” a senior Democratic aide said. “This was a shot across the bow to Republicans who have been emptying the toolbox to block even the most bipartisan, job-creating, common-sense pieces of legislation.” This looks very good!
"Senate Democratic leaders are scheduled to meet with President Barack Obama and Vice President Joseph Biden at 10:25 a.m. today in the Oval Office. The meeting was originally planned for late Thursday afternoon, but it was postponed."
Good Luck Dems!
Here's Benen on McConnell's BIG LIE regarding how it's President Obama who's doing all the "obstructing" while ol' Mitch is just trying to get things done. MM is vying for biggest asshole in the history of assholes.

excellent article from Benen!! thank you so much for posting that, Cha!!
about the rules change, i'm with you wishing a parliamentarian would put the details more clearly than the article did. anyone?
i am thrilled they are studying their rules and law so minutely, and, in light of that, that this is described as "a shot across the bow."

Yeah, I was really trying to learn what was done by Harry but I kept reading over and over and it still wasn't satisfying so I decided to ask.

me too, Cha! i swear, it's as if the writer didn't proofread, and used a couple of ambiguous pronouns, and maybe an incorrect negative ....
anybody here a parliamentary rules expert?
thanks, Cha!

Who are the Democrats that don't support the jobs bill? I'd like to know. We don't need them. And frankly, I'm tired of Reid protecting them by not forcing votes. That's exactly what he did with the cap-and-trade bill last year.
i'd like to know who those Dem's are too, Willinois.
thank you!
