I've never worried about what religion someone chooses to practice. As long as they leave others alone, they can believe what they want. It's when they try to make their beliefs mine, or the country's, that I say no. The blatant bigotry of one sect against the other is to gain power in the 'who's god is better' hierarchy.

What a freakin mess. Preaching hatred, discrimination, and intolerance....oh yeah, that's so christian.

"Confronting them effectively". That says it all.

Liberty University is cult.

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

I guess these "methods and materials for confronting them effectively" don't apply to a leading figure of one of these "major cults" as long as said person is rich, white and a Republican.

Exactly. The protestant denominations that spend the most time attacking "cults" like Mormonism are ones that have the most in common with them.

Well that makes perfect sense.

Their mission is not serving God. Their mission is recruiting bodies for power, influence and greed. The "cults" that they want to "confront effectively" are after the same pocket books that they are after. Access to those people and their pocketbooks satisfies both their greed and their need for power and influence.

It is nothing more or less than capitalist Christianity and like any good capitalist they need to eliminate the competition to corner the market.

Maybe we can find it. I want to run it by some right wing nuts but figured they will just dismiss us and that other site as a source!
