Trayvon Martin shooting: It's not George Zimmerman crying for help on 911 recording, 2 experts say
5:38 p.m. EST, March 31, 2012|

By Jeff Weiner, Orlando Sentinel

As the Trayvon Martin controversy splinters into a debate about self-defense, a central question remains: Who was heard crying for help on a 911 call in the moments before the teen was shot?

A leading expert in the field of forensic voice identification sought to answer that question by analyzing the recordings for the Orlando Sentinel.

His result: It was not George Zimmerman who called for help.

Tom Owen, forensic consultant for Owen Forensic Services LLC and chair emeritus for the American Board of Recorded Evidence, used voice identification software to rule out Zimmerman. Another expert contacted by the Sentinel, utilizing different techniques, came to the same conclusion.

Still 10 days to go until the grand jury.

I've always thought it was Trayvon who was screaming for help, primarily because the voice goes absolutely silent at the same time the shot is fired. However, it's good to read that people who are experts in this area came to the same conclusion.

I really hope they arrest that SOB Zimmerman. He is getting away with nothing short of cold blooded murder.

Silence is consent.

A man who lives in the Retreat at Twin Lakes Sanford Community where George Zimmerman lives and where 17-year old Trayvon Martin was killed, talked exclusively to FOX35 Friday about what he saw on Zimmerman's face less than 24-hours after the shooting.

"I saw George, he was banged up," he said.

The man, who didn't want his identity revealed, said he saw bandages on Zimmerman's nose and on the back of his head and well as lumps on his face.

It is probably the same guy that was on TV defending him a while back. I think he claimed to also be a neighbor-HOOD watchman.

I just saw where George Zimmerman has a twitter account and has over 10,000 followers. It bills itself as the REAL George Zimmerman and it's all syrupy.
I read through some of it and turned it off.

I am no expert but it sounds like a child
crying out in fear

Zimmerman was not in fear, he was on a mission.

It sounds like the family is trying to build a defense for Zimmerman and get it out there early.
Perhaps because if he does get charged, he won't able to take the stand at his triaL

The law still requires "force for force" - meaning a schoolyard style scuffle would not allow for deadly force, even with the new law. They have to paint this as severe bodily harm or Zimmerman is still guilty, regardless of whether Trayvon punched him or not.

Under the Stand Your Ground law, all Zimmerman has to do is claim he was in fear of great bodily harm, former Miami-Dade homicide prosecutor Abe Laeser stressed.

If no witnesses can prove otherwise, the intensity of the brawl is irrelevant -- and Zimmerman is clear without a jury ever even hearing the facts, he said.

Yes, *great* bodily harm. The intensity of the brawl is the entirety of his plea of self defense. He can't say his head was being bashed against the street - and have NO evidence of serious injuries. The law firm I worked for handled more than one of these kinds of cases, in Montana. Maybe juries in Florida don't mind dead people all over the place, but the ones in Montana did. It was very rare for them to let someone off when they killed someone and pled "self defense", even in the midst of an intense brawl.
