Screwy Trouble Continues for GOP Establishment As Florida Falls for Gingrich

...

The Tea Party tail of the beast is resulting in Newt Gingrich’s surge in Florida after he already took South Carolina. Florida going for Gingrich would be an epic disaster for the Republican Party. They cannot afford to have Newt Gingrich as their nominee.

The latest trouble started when the presumed winner of the Republican nomination, Willard Mitt Romney, was no longer the presumed winner. Not only did a recount take away his Iowa win (Santorum, the other “conservative,” won but the establishment called it a tie), but he lost in South Carolina to Newt Gingrich of all people. Since South Carolina has been the apparent bellwether for the Republican nomination for a while now, this is supposed to be significant.

Personally, I didn’t find it all that significant because it was entirely predictable, but then, I’ve spent time in South Carolina recently and I’m well aware that the state is controlled by Fox News under the seeming guise of Christianity. Insert your maniacal laughter here.

...

But the Tea Party cart is driving the establishment in Florida now, with polls showing that Newt Gingrich is leading Romney by 8-9 points. This wasn’t supposed to happen in Florida, where rich Republicans from the Villages on the west coast have been financially supporting the Bain Capital Man and where Romney had a better ground organization than Newt. Romney was organized enough to take advantage of absentee voting and early voting. He was presumed at a huge advantage in Florida.

Screwy

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

If Gingrich wins Florida, Romney is in big trouble! And it's getting nasty here. I live in Tampa, and the ads Romney was running before South Carolina were all attack ads on Obama, as if it was a foregone conclusion Romney would be the nominee, but suddenly, Romney (and his PACs) are attacking Gingrich with a vengeance, with only passing mentions of Obama.

I haven't seen many ads from Gingrich yet but I understand Newt's sugar daddy just gave $5 million to his Super PAC, and I expect the trice married King-of-Mean Newt Gingrich to return the favor and go after Willard big time!

Should be fun. Rarely have I ever actually looked forward to seeing political ads, especially from the right! heh

I am watching, or listening at the moment, to the debate, and Mitt has hit Newt on the lobbying issue. Now Newt keeps coming back with BS, but unlike SC, the crowd here is NOT going crazy over Newt. I think it will be a close one, and I can't say who will win, but at least the crowd is not as loud and crazy as they were in SC.

I hope Mitt and Newt get into it some more, it's the best back and forth so far of any of the debates.

Turned out to be a rather boring debate. It's the only debate I've been able to watch from beginning to end. I was hopping to see Newt and Willard go at each other but Newt was on his best behavior, at least for him anyway. Should be interesting to see how this plays out with the GOP electorate.

I love the goat pic and notice he's wearing a bell. Ding ding.

Eh, I don't think so. I would love for Gingrich to take Florida. LOVE IT. But I don't think it will happen. And following Fl there are no deep red states for debate until a slew of Romney states have passed.

The main thing Mittens has going for him is
that he's not a black man.

Come to think of it, that's what the four remaining candidates have going for them.

Well, plus the misogony, homophobia, immigrant-hating.......

You get the idea.
