Kelly Clarkson tweets support for Ron Paul, receives barrage of angry tweets

Kelly Clarkson. (Stephen Lovekin - Getty Images) “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson has learned that sharing a political opinion on Twitter is not always a popular move with your followers.

“I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance,” the singer tweeted Wednesday. “If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

This informal endorsement of Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul set off a firestorm of angry tweets, with people accusing Clarkson of supporting racism and the death penalty, and of not supporting equal rights for same-sex couples. One Twitter user called her “stupid,” while another tweeted, “Now THAT is how you get someone to unfollow you on Twitter ... and in your career. Good luck — you’ll need it.”

Clarkson, I believe, is about to find out what her fellow Ron Paul supporters are really like -- and it certainly doesn't sound like it's a pretty picture - the view from an avowed "conservative" :

Hmmm 'letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country" .... how could that be accomplished..... let me think.... there's too many to let each person do it. on there own... so maybe some sort of Democratically elected federal government.... yeah that would work.... let the people vote for the people who would then run the Country. That way even the poor people would get a voice.... oh wait...

A disturbing bit of epilogue for this story....Yahoo News reports that li'l Kelly's on line song sales spiked up 440% after her little Ron Paul tweet.
