Gadhafi's body stashed in shopping center freezer

MISRATA, Libya (AP) - Moammar Gadhafi's blood-streaked body has been stashed in a commercial freezer at a shopping center as Libyans try to keep it away from crowds as they figure out where and when to bury the hated leader.

An AP correspondent saw the body Friday at the shopping center in the coastal city of Misrata, home of the fighters who killed the ousted leader a day earlier in his hometown of Sirte.

<..> TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) - The burial of slain leader Moammar Gadhafi has been delayed until the circumstances of his death can be further examined and a decision is made about where to bury the body, Libyan officials said Friday, as the U.N. human rights office called for an investigation into his death.

The transitional leadership had said it would bury the dictator Friday in accordance with Islamic tradition. Bloody images of Gadhafi's last moments in the hands of angry captors have raised questions over his treatment minutes before his death. One son, Muatassim, was also killed but the fate of Gadhafi's one-time heir apparent Seif al-Islam was unclear.

I laugh when reading about worries over the treatment of Gadhafi. If he wanted decent treatment he should have behaved decently toward the people of Libya.

It is strange. Gaddafi's one of the cruelest tyrants of the last 50 yrs. They're still finding mass graves around Tripoli and other cities. He seem to have executed nearly all of HIS prisoners.

But Libyans should be concerned about the way he died?

I heard one of the Libyans say the only shame about Gadhafi's death is that it could only happen once. I don't think the Libyans are worried about Gadhafi suffering, they are hoping he did.

Last I read (AJE) the Libyan spokesman in London said they were still waiting for pictures in order to confirm Saif al-Islam's capture.

It would be good if at least one of Gaddaft's sons could be tried for his crimes.

Saif is supposedly being transported to Misurata. They may want to make sure he arrives safely (and alive!) before making any public statement.
