Huntsman Clears Way for a 2012 Bid

WASHINGTON — The United States ambassador to China, Jon M. Huntsman Jr., delivered a letter of resignation on Monday to President Obama and intends to leave his position on April 30, a White House official said, clearing the way for him to explore a potential 2012 Republican presidential bid.

Mr. Huntsman, a former Republican governor of Utah, was nominated nearly two years ago by President Obama to serve as the top American envoy to China. He has not decided whether to move forward with a candidacy, associates said, but he has had several conversations with a circle of political advisers who are waiting in the wings if he decides to run.

I copied/pasted their headline from the article and didn't even notice. LOL!

They have changed it now to:

So who's going to be the next Ambassador to China? Maybe a Democrat this time? Smile

Smart guy, moderate (compared to the raving loons in his party), Mormon, and has no chance in Hell of getting the nom.

I see VP...maybe.

I wonder if Huntsman is doing this then, since he has no chance, to get the "Moderate" gop word out there?Shrug

If he's doing anything, it's Senate, imo.

His resignation isn't surprising. He said when he accepted the nomination he'd commit to two years.

Ah, thanks..I didn't know about the "two year commitment" agreement. The Senate would be a more logical way to go, imv.
