So why are Republicans so intent on protecting the top 0.3 percent of Minnesotans from paying any increase in taxes, preferring instead to cut health care services for the poor, the sick and the elderly? According to Rep. Mary Kiffmeyer, the former Secretary of State under Republican Governor Tim Pawlenty, the state really doesn’t need revenue, it just wants to punish rich people. “It’s not about revenue,” Kiffmeyer said. “It’s about a tax increase, because they want to go after those who’ve actually worked hard.”
...
That should sit well with the constituents - the low-income and middle-class slackers! Huh

I know. If the idiots who voted for them don't realize this is a personal slam on them, I don't know what it will take.

Wow! To actually say that, out loud! Facepalm

Those supporters will drop off one by one if they haven't already left the fold.

The Koch brothers have these guys scared....it's as if they are the Mob.....yea that's it....Dons running a crooked business.

The sad thing is that's what quite a few people have come to believe.
To increase taxes on the upper bracket is to penalize success! That's stated or implied on every conservative or libertarian blog. E.g., see Andrew Sullivan.
And that's the social structure the tea-partiers are dedicated to preserving.
As if every American had the same opportunities, advantages and choices to make from birth

RE: MN State Rep: Only Millionaires “Actually Worked Hard”
NO millionaire got their millions alone. Fact of the matter, most millionaires got their money the old-fashioned way--they inherited it.

For example, Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft, came from a very well-to-do family. Most stories downplay this and call his upbringing "upper-middle class". Even if the family didn't provide actual financial backing, he had access to resources, (he was sent to private school), and other assistance, including, but not limited to, business networking. There are no stories that indicate any family-provided financial backing, but I'd be willing to bet that there was some.

Since they didn't get the millions alone, why should they get to keep it alone? Why shouldn't they pay taxes like everyone else?

Doesn't EVERYONE have a Porsche to drive to classes at Harvard, both paid for by The Parents?

And when you crash it a couple or three times, doesn't Mumsy and Pater make it all good for you again?

Bill Gates is another myth.
