before clicking in. From what I have seen the party is being financed and is going into a huge debt from the 1% and corporate interests. At the same time they are pandering and selling out our nation's values to please the tea party, so they have the "grass roots" support

That's why I was surprised to see DeMint go for Romney. DeMint is Mr. Teaparty, and he has to know Willard isn't up to snuff on the teabaggers even though he's lying about it on the campaign trail.

I do not know if anyone is 'running' the GOP. The party seems to be without a rudder.

I think that GWB did some damage to the GOP; stripped it of any highly regarded national leadership.
The TP may be 'leading' it; but, the TP, at the end of the day, is composed of followers who are governed by the principle of 'ignorance is bliss'.

There is currently a huge divide between the old-line mainstream East Coast Old Money Republicans that have controlled their party since, well, forever, and the Oil Money Noveau Riche Unpedigreed Upstarts.

This is the battleground.
