Scalia: Judges 'ain't what they used to be'

WASHINGTON (AP) - Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia says the quality of federal judges has suffered because there are too many of them. Testifying before a Senate committee Wednesday, Scalia blamed Congress for making federal crimes out of too many routine drug cases. In turn, that created a need for more judges.

"Federal judges ain't what they used to be," he said during a rare appearance before the Senate Judiciary Committee..

The federal judiciary should be an elite group, said Scalia, who has served on the high court for 25 years. "It's not as elite as it used to be," he said.

<..> "I'm hopeful that the living constitution will die," Scalia said, not for the first time.

That about made me gag. Scalia isn't what I'd call elite....more like a big mistake on the SC.

RE: Scalia: Judges 'ain't what they used to be'
Scalia is indeed a dirt bag of the lowest form.

Sadly, I also have to agree with his point about making a federal case out of all too many routine drug busts. 1 out of every 125 people in the US is in jail, 1 of 20 black males - mostly due to drugs - it's insane.

Confirmed, Fox "news" makes you stupid

The ones you are noticing are more terrified than anything else. They are lashing out because they are comfortable; and to acknowledge what is happening is a threat to that comfort. Ignore them, for they are not the voices that will rise in the coming days, months and years. They are not the voices of our collected humanity. They are the old voices of fear and impotence. - Anonymous

I agree about the drugs too. People shouldn't be in jail for using drugs, it's why the prisons are so full.

RE: Scalia: Judges 'ain't what they used to be'
Scalia is old school douchebag. That corrupt POS should have recused himself on numerous cases involving Cheney but didn't. No doubt fellow douchebag, Thomas, won't recuse himself either before the Affordable Care Act makes its debut before the SC. I honestly don't understand how Federalists made it on the court in the first place.

Is féidir linn.

Turns out Scalia is delusional if he thinks he's in anyway "elite". What a tragic farce the USA has for a SC 5..you couldn't make up something this bad if you were a novelist.
