The US House of Representatives Intelligence Committee said Wednesday that it plans an in-depth look at threats from terrorism as it marks ten years since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

The panel will hold rare public hearings with Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and an as-yet unnamed CIA official on September 13, and FBI chief Robert Mueller and National Counterterrorism Center Director Matt Olsen on October 6.

The hearings will focus on the status of Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups, as well as "explore whether the United States is properly positioned to combat the growing threat from homegrown actors," the panel said.
