"HUCKABEE-BRAND BIRTHERISM.... Time will tell if former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee ® launches another presidential campaign, but after comments like these, I can only assume he's either trying to impress an unhinged base or he's gone a little mad.

During a radio appearance yesterday, Mike Huckabee repeatedly falsely claimed that President Obama grew up in Kenya. After questioning Obama's purported secrecy about the birth certificate, radio host Steve Malzberg asked Huckabee if "we deserve to know more about this man." Huckabee responded, "I would love to know more. What I know is troubling enough."

Speaking on WOR's The Steve Malzberg Show, Huckabee -- a Fox News host and potential presidential candidate -- said that "one thing that I do know is his having grown up in Kenya, his view of the Brits, for example, very different than the average American ... his perspective as growing up in Kenya with a Kenyan father and grandfather, their view of the Mau Mau Revolution in Kenya is very different than ours because he probably grew up hearing that the British are a bunch of imperialists who persecuted his grandfather."

Huckabee added that "the only reason" he doesn't take conspiracy theories about birth certificates seriously is that, as he sees it, Hillary Clinton would have destroyed Obama with it during the 2008 primaries.

For the record, in case anyone cares about reality, President Obama did not "grow up in Kenya," a ridiculous claim Huckabee repeated multiple times on the air. (It was not, in other words, an accidental slip of the tongue.)

For that matter, Obama also did not "grow up ... with a Kenyan father and grandfather"; he was raised in Hawaii with his maternal grandparents.

"What I know is troubling enough"? What Huckabee thinks he knows is an embarrassment.

Frequently, the political establishment likes to characterize Huckabee as a charming former preacher who's easy to like. Cheap, ugly, borderline-racist smears like these should help show that the governor's reputation is not well deserved."

What we know about Huckabee is ..he's as dumb as a bag of snails and I don't care if he's lying through his teeth to appeal to the most ignorant among us. And, he calls himself a "Christian"..he's the devil's advocate.

Just when I forget what a douche Huckabee is, he does something like this to remind me.

I think he's attempting to repair the recent consternation he caused on the right when he praised the President as an excellent husband/father role model for the nation.

Every poor soul that has ever wasted a dollar on snake oil at a medicine show has seen the Huckabee type before. In fact, they are his key demographic. This guy reminds me a LOT of the Huckster:

LOL he will provide a lot of entertainment the next couple of years I think. He is certainly off to a great start!

Having said that the author of this article kind of blows it with this line.

He wasnt only raised in Hawii he also spent time with his mom in several other places.

Its actually a part of his appeal for me, his experiences arround the world growing up in different cultures.

I am being nitpicky I Know but its kinda wierd to call out huckabee for his missinformation while not really getting it right yourself.

Obama lays out his childhood influences pretty well in Dreams from my father. Its not exactly hidden information.

So while the Huckabeast is totaly mistaken about his geography I think his point sort of stands that Obamas world view is not that of your average American.

I see that as a postive as your average American is woefully ignorant. I want my president aware of other cultures and the real differences there are there in this world as well as the common bond that holds us together. When it comes to this I think Obamas perspective is very healthy. While Huckabee is yes that average American who thinks freedom fries is cute, a dangerous blind spot for a president IMHO.

So thanks for being a dancing monky Huckster! Its goping to be fun watching you fling your poo at the cage. Sadly many will be taken in by your clever monkey dance but it wont be nearly enough to make a difference.

There is no way this man did not know what he was doing or saying Cha. The Mau Mau rebellion reference... those of us old enough to remember "Mau- Mauing the Flak Catchers" know exactly what he was up to!

Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 to a mother from Kansas, and a father from Kenya whom he would barely know and write in his memoir he had met only once. He spent the first five years of his life in Hawaii and then moved with his since-divorced mother and her new husband to Indonesia. At the age of 10, he returned to Hawaii to live with his maternal grandparents on Oahu until he started his undergraduate degree in Los Angeles and completed it in New York City.

"The first time I came to Kenya was in 1987," Obama said at the University of Nairobi in 2006. "I had just finished three years of work as a community organizer in low-income neighborhoods of Chicago, and was about to enroll in law school. From this article and others ..I'd say it doesn't pay to "misspeak" because yahoo will fact check your ass.

I may be old enough, Lucy, but I don't know what he's talking about because I didn't start paying attention until 1999. The Huckabee interview is riddled with with lies and accusations against the President that have nothing to do with reality though and "yahoo" did a fact check on it that should give Huckabee pause as to whether a lying fool like himself is ready for the big time.

Huckabee is proving to be a Huckster..he is supposedly a minister who will have a lot to answer for with his outright lies. He did not misspeak.. he spoke with an agenda to the most squalid of white racists. He did not trip up on getting countries mixed up.. but layed out a narrative of lies..

I'm sorry but I'm an American who's under the impression that the British were imperialists. I'm pretty sure I know what Gandhi and George Washington thought. I guess Gomer Huckabee would have stayed loyal to the crown during our revolution.
