I'll be adding to this as the wingnuts speak, trying to one-up each other with how bad President Obama is and how wonderful they could would be.

The first major speaker at this year's Conservative Political Action Conference, an annual gathering of right-wing advocates, grassroots activists, and politicians (including 2012 contenders), was Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, who had a fundamental message for the base: compromise sucks.

GOPers on Capitol Hill should not be looking to work with Democrats to develop common solutions to the nation's woes, he proclaimed. Not at all. Not ever. And DeMint, with an I'm-so-clever smile, offered what he obviously thought was a killer analogy: the Super Bowl.

Second White Nationalist Appearing At CPAC

Though gay conservatives aren't welcome at the Conservative Political Action Confrence this year, at least two white nationalists are appearing at the yearly conservative confab.

One is Jay Brimelow, founded of the nativist site VDARE which publishes the works of white nationalists like Jared Taylor, and the other is Robert Vandervoort, who runs a group called ProEnglish and according to the Institute for Research on Education and Human Rights, "was also the organizer of the white nationalist group, Chicagoland Friends of American Renaissance," which is affiliated with Taylor.

In his speech opening the CPAC conference, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio ® touched on every leg of the so-called three-legged stool: national security, economic, and social conservatism.

It was a jokey speech filled with barbs at Democrats — liberals now call themselves “progressive, which I thought was an insurance company” and “It’s hard to get a teleprompter in this town, there’s a guy who uses a lot of them.” He took multiple shots at Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and former president Jimmy Carter.

Obama, he said, “looks like he’s a really good father, he’s a really good husband, but he is a terrible president.”

But there were serious moments too, and Rubio showed why despite his many denials he will be heavily courted for the vice-presidential nomination.

Andrew Breitbart took the podium at CPAC Friday afternoon, introduced to the stage with Rage Against The Machine’s Guerilla Radio, and revealed to the audience he had “videos” of Barack Obama from his college days. “I have videos, this election we’re going to vet him,” Breitbart disclosed to raucous applause. “We are going to vet him from his college days to show you why racial division and class warfare are central to what hope and change was sold in 2008.”
