Kornheiser could be facing another backlash

The former is a sexist term, the latter is as well, but not as obviously. As one male member of the media explained it last night via e-mail, “I think the test is would Tony say that about you or me. Probably not. I’m guessing Sally feels the exact same way.”

Yeah, he needs to be smacked.
Generally I give ESPN pretty good marks. They address stuff like this and promote women's sports. Sexism, homphobia, etc., often find a bastion in sports. Local sports talk radio is awful. I wonder how I could listen to it with my teenage daughter if she were interested in sports.

Because it always seems like the guys who never played a sport are trying so hard to be "one of the boys" that they make fools of themselves.

No, he didn't, and he's been criticized for it. That is, people have criticized his abilities as an analyst because he's never played the games he analyzes. I happen to think that criticism, in and of itself, is crap (some of the worst analysts I've heard in my life are former players) but in his case, he is a crap analyst.
He likes stoking controversy and doesn't seem to have a censor for his tongue. This is really a part of a rather long list of stupid comments he's made over the years.

Can I just say that all of you need to take a second to look into some of this information a little more. You've simply taken one headline and an excerpt and decided to judge an entire topic and situation. If you follow this link, with a direct-quote from Sally and the actual full quote (not chopped-up and misrepresented) that Tony Kornheiser mad, you will see that this thread should have never been created.
Also, most sports writers and critics haven't played that doesn't mean they aren't experts. Have political writers all been in the House or Senate? No. But they have studied it, day and night for years and years making them more of an expert on sports than most players. If you polled 100 columnists and 100 football players on the histroy and rules of the NFL, the columnists would destroy the players.

So I went ahead and took a look at your link. Here's the problem. Lots of ltimes women will say they aren't offended by sexism, particularly when they're in a male dominated job. Men should really take it as an insult. When women don't complain about it, they're really saying we think you're such neanderthals that you can't act any better. The intent of the comment is to use a female stereotype to make Sally feel inferior. That is sexist, no question. Not Funny, which people who don't engage in hateful ridicule easily understand.
